Download the FIMEA 2024 report: Efficiency of indoor air purifiers in use

As part of the Qualité-Air-Solutions-Territoires program co-funded by ADEME, FIMEA is pleased to make available its report on the indoor air purifier experiment carried out in 2024 to assess the dynamic efficiency of mobile air purifiers in real-life conditions.

Indoor air purification systems finally get the chance to be tested in real-life situations

This report presents the details of the in situ experiment and the analysis of the results obtained, with the aim of defining one or more indicators of the efficiency (or impact) of an air purifier under real operating conditions, in order to enable the manufacturer to determine or modify the appropriate parameters for improved operation.

This experiment aimed to characterize the effectiveness of various air purifiers in reducing particulate particulate concentrations was conducted from June 3 to 30, 2023 and from January 19 to March 22, 2024 in the Cavanna library in Nogent-sur-Marne.

A total of five devices were tested for different durations, each with continuous particle measurements using micro-sensors and optical counters, positioned in a test office (treated) equipped with an air treatment system, and in an adjoining (untreated) office without an air purifier.
